Greyhounds! The true way to show love!!!

I have to tell you that I have been thru a lot in the last few years and I truly think that my Greys (along with my husband) have kept me sane!

They are the most loving of animals. It  feels almost as if they are grateful for the chance to just live a happy healthy life as part of a normal pack.

I know Darby just walked of the track one day....she was done!!  She is my skittish one.  It makes me feel so good when I see the shell cracking a little every day.

Mo Mo is my gentle giant.  SOOOOO loving and "needy" He really turned into a mamas' boy!

Angel  was my valentine present...but the bond that between Ian and her was immedient and strong.  That is his "Angel Baby".

She is the alpha female.  What a beauty.

Domino was such a "pleaser".  He is the only one that I have been able to train to do tricks and I was able to get him a Therapy Dog International certificate, along with the Canine Good Citizen certificate.  Greys are a little hard to train (I have found).  Or maybe just because I don't have the time with four that I had when I only had Noser, so maybe it just feels harder to train them.

Remember when you are training a Grey, they have a lot of horror story's in their background.  You hear of electric shock if they sit in the "gate".  Pulling ears to get their attention.  And their diets....OH MY GOD!!  Noser and Darby  were yellow, not white.  They were clean but the coat color was affected due to nutrition.  I was so proud when their coat started turning glossy white and black.

Alot of Greys have broken legs, or even missing legs.  They don' t let it get them down..I was so impressed when I first came across a

three legged Grey at the Kanab Gathering and he ran in the "Blur of Fur" race.  I truly believe that he was having the time of his life running with his pack leader (mom).

Remember when you are adopting a Greyhound, that they are for the most part, two year old "puppies".  They have never even been in a house before and the only real contact they have is with the trainers.  A lot of people reccomend a large crate, thou I never used one.  I do have two large doggie doors thou for easy access.  They may chew, and even hurt themselves by going thru large windows ...remember EVERYTHING IS NEW!!

If you have cats or small animals, they will find one that is "safe".  Enjoy your Greyhound.   It is truly the best thing I think that I have done with my life.  I have a purpose to fill here and I am doing it by helping the oldest breed of dog.

I hope that I have helped anyone that is looking for a Greyhound.  I hope that you will feel free to email me:  greylover@greyacres.com

I am going to take this moment to thank all the wonderful volenteers that help the Greyhounds.

Ian, thank you for the help and patience.  Julie, if not for you I would never gotten "Noser". Thank you for your friendship and the talks.  Mike and Dee,  Your help and friendship has been greyt!

Debbie and Claudia, Thank you in getting the word out.  Your support and information of these wonderful hounds has made my life easier.

Just to let you know  the addoption fee varies...$175.00 to $300.00 (Texas).  Here, thru GPA-AZ the price is currently $175.00 but we are losing about $35.00 per dog.  All dogs are spayed or nutered micro chiped and teeth cleaned, current on all shots, collar and lead, and blood work to make sure you are getting a healthy dog.

E-mail me and I have adoption papers here with foster info donation info...Have patience, I am still learning!!
